Voters Choose Not to Pass Prop A on May 7

On May 7, 2024, Proposition A failed to pass in a Special Election in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. If passed, Proposition A would have increased the Borough's tax revenue cap permanently.

This year, that extra money would have helped to fill the school budget gap. In the future, it could have supplied a reliable, responsible, more-permanent budget for education. Golden Heart Strong is the campaign that advocated for voting YES on Prop A. We are deeply grateful to all the letter writers, sign wavers, phone bankers, contributors, and chili makers. Although the results aren’t what we’d hoped for, the loud commitment to education and to this community is what makes us all Golden Heart Strong!
